Maureen was amazing! The house is beautiful and the breakfasts were great. What more could you ask for?

The ambiance of the home and the coziness of all the rooms were very welcoming and left us wanting more time to stay there. The hostess was warm, funny and easy to engage. It will be our pleasure to stay there again. We loved our room and were very comfortable. We miss SeaBiscuit.

Wonderful place to stay at. We had a fantastic time. Maureen takes good care of her guests in all respects and the house is wonderful to be in. It's a big house which she made into a bed and breakfast place with quite a few rooms for guests. Maureen will also give recommendations and equipment for seeing things in the area - swimming and shnorkelling, restaurants, Volcano national park, etc. Can't recommend it enough. The breakfast was great, too.
We liked everything. Some people might find it hard to deal with the noise from the frogs in the area (we didn't have any problem, though). Also, the bath is shared with other guests. Again, not a problem for us, but might be for some.

We enjoyed the house itself very much, very beautiful! Breakfast was nice but not over the top special. There are many books to read about trips around the island and beach towels and snorkeling gear to borrow.
The B&B is near Hilo, a bit outside of town, very close to the airport. This is also one of the drawbacks, as you can hear planes arriving or taking off. Be prepared that there are, as many others wrote before, many froggs which make quite a sound at night. We did not mind but others might be annoyed. You will have to share the bathroom with other guests, which can be annoying if more that four people share.

Maureen and her incredible home.......... As well as the closeness to the Hilo airport.
The koki frog sounds all night long are a unique experience. After the first 30 minutes or so they become "white noise".

Wonderful stay. This was my first night on Hawaii Big Island and I was stunned by the rainforest setting. The beaches just a little bit further down the road were gorgeous (rocky and rugged more than sandy). Maureen's house is fascinatingly decorated and staying there was a real treat. Maybe it was because it was my first Hawaii experience but I swear the fruit she presented at breakfast was the best I've ever had (before or since). I also got fantastic local advice. Superb.

Maureen really couldn't be nicer or have done more to try and make your stay an enjoyable one. Also she is basically inviting you into her home which makes you feel at home there, which is a nice change from standard hotels. The rooms are large and clean and the house is filled with interesting things to look at, books to read etc. Also the breakfast was very nice with variety each day, I had pancakes on one day and then quiche on another with a bowl of fresh fruit each day. You also meet an interesting range of people staying there and everyone seems to be friendly and chatty which is nice.
The house is an old one and therefore it is quite noisy between the frogs outside and the people moving around inside. Also you have to trust your sat nav if you turn up after dark as there is no sign on the road and the only sign is a little wooden board on the side of the house which is very hard to see at night.

Wonderful stay. Maureen is a very personable and warm hostess who takes the comfort of her visitors very seriously. Provided us with maps, guidebooks, warm sweatshirts, and towels as well as a lot of helpful advice. The house itself is a unique collection of her wide interests in Hawaiian art, horses, and antiques.

The owner was a delight. Breakfast with other guests, and some locals that stay there regularly, was very enjoyable. It's a real old fashioned B & B, making you feel part of the culture.

Maureen's bed and breakfast was located in a fabulous house with a stunning garden that makes you feel as if you were immersed in the middle of a tropical rainforest. Maureen herself was a delightful host and served up delicious home made breakfasts comprising seasonal fruits, waffles and/or tasty quiches. She was able to provide information on local attractions and put us in contact with Captain Browns Lava viewing boat tours (who we found to be an excellent tour provider - a trip well worth doing if the lava is currently active). We would highly recommend staying here - Ryan and Aude 19 Dec 2011.

Maureen and her husband Dean are charming and put us immediately at ease. The home is large and restful; just lovely. Maureen prepared a tasty breakfast starting with a generous bowl of papaya and bananas, followed by fresh blueberry pancakes. She credits the water for her delicious coffee. Everything was very laid back. Maureen gave us some excellent suggestions for restaurant and sights to see.
The only caveat is the chirping sound of frogs through the night. Maureen kindly provides earplugs. Otherwise, we slept just fine.
